The Nautical License Within 12M course enables the management of sailing and motor boats, with engines of displacement greater than 40.9hp, with a maximum overall length up to 24mt. Issued by the Italian Harbor Master's Office, it is mandatory for the management of boats over 10mt, for coastal navigation over 6 miles from the coast, for engines with a displacement greater than 40.9hp, for the practice of water-skiing and for the conduct of jet ski. This course provides the theoretical and practical knowledge for obtaining this license through the study and preparation of the exam topics for training purposes and for passing the exam. The topics of the course and examination:. Theory of the ship and main structures; . Propeller and rudder; Operation of internal combustion and diesel engines - Irregularities and small failures that may occur during their operation and how to remedy them; .Calculation of range in relation to engine power and residual fuel quantity; .Safety regulations with particular reference to safety equipment in relation to navigation actually carried out - Types of visits and their frequency; . Measures to be taken in the event of a maritime accident (fire - collision - breakdown - man overboard); . Measures to be taken for the safety of people on board in the event of an accident and abandonment of the boat; . Precautions to be taken in case of navigation in bad weather; .Assistance and rescue: the rescue signals and their significance; . Regulations to avoid collisions at sea and circulation rules in inland waters; River navigation; . Precautions near the coast or on stretches of water where other nautical activities take place (swimming - water skiing - underwater fishing - etc.); . Meteorological bulletins for maritime navigation. - Meteorological instruments and their use; .Geographical coordinates (navigation); Nautical charts - Mercator projection; . Orientation and wind rose; .Magnetic compasses; .Elements of estimated navigation: time, space and speed; Elements of coastal navigation: concept of place of position (with the exclusion of correspondence); Heading and course - effect of wind and current on ship motion (drift and leeway); .Solcometei and soundings; Portolano, list of lighthouses and fog signals; .Laws and regulations governing pleasure boating - Navigation Code with regard to pleasure boating with particular reference to: - obligations, powers and duties of the captain; - attributions of the Maritime and inland navigation Authority; - Ordinances of the local Maritime Authorities; - documents to keep on board; .Rules governing water skiing; Course structure and duration: .4 theoretical preparation modules; .3 correspondence preparation forms; .1 exam simulation; .12 hours of sailing practice; The course lasts 4 weeks, with 2 modules per week, one of theory and one of correspondence, in appointments of 2 hours each. It is also possible to organize it according to the needs and requirements of the individual or group. Exam procedure: At the Port Authority of Genoa -1 correspondence problem on estimated navigation (0 errors); -20 multiple choice theory quiz questions (3 errors max); - Practical test of sailing, crew management and nautical knowledge. The course fee includes: - preparation for the chosen course with an instructor; - registration of documents at the Port Authority of Genoa; - theory and correspondence manuals; - theoretical exams quiz and '21 correspondence; - squares, compasses and didactic nautical chart; - 12h of sailing practice; - 1 pre-exam outing and boat rental for exam; - training and 1 repetition of the exam in case of negative result of the candidate; - "Leuca Club ASD" membership At the end of the course, successful candidates are given the opportunity to collaborate in boat management and to participate in the club's activities in the seasonal period based on mutual availability, in order to continue to acquire additional skills and skills.
